Light tanks are fast and speedy armoured vehicles. Their speed and their armament allows them to take out various weaker targets, but remain easily slaughtered by antitank units and dedicated aircraft.
Not as fast as tankettes or armoured cars, but can be used to defend against the same.
A special breed of light tank, the cruiser tank, is capable of attacking while moving.
Slow, poorly armoured and armed for a tank, but nonetheless very hardy and cheap to produce, making it highly useful for suppressing rifle infantry and machine guns, and defending against early armoured cars.
Strong against: most land targets, especially light infantry and vehicles
Weak against: all aircraft, bombard-based attacks, medium tanks and heavy tanks
Slower than armoured cars, but fairly mobile and armoured enough, making it ideal for attacking entrenched units and fortifications.

Tankette[]
While not as powerful as normal light tanks, tankettes tend to be cheaper and have the advantage of being capable of being assembled without requiring Armoured Corps Doctrine. Some factions such as Italy and Japan do not require a Heavy Engineering Depot to build them, making it easier to create an armoured force to crush your foes before they can create proper tanks to finish you off. Tankettes are useful, especially in countering armoured cars and suppressing machine guns.
Turretted tankettes like cruiser tanks are capable of attacking while moving.
Unique Polish upgrade for Carden-Loyd. Is faster, sturdier and armed with a 20mm gun, allowing it the ability to suppress both infantry and light vehicles alike.
Strong against: infantry and light vehicles.
Weak against:tanks.
